1/1/24: L.A. is experiencing a serious animal overpopulation crisis.
Please note, we do NOT have enough local volunteers to assist with every TNR situation & our ability to rescue kittens or cats is limited.
WHAT IS TNR & WHY?
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) has been proven the most effective way to ensure strays, or neighborhood cats aren’t multiplying. It dramatically decreases the number of kittens suffering on the street & filling our city shelters.
Free roaming, un-owned neighborhood cats are humanely trapped, transported to FixNation where they’re scanned for a microchip, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms if needed and following 36 hour recovery, returned exactly where they were trapped.
TNR is the #1 way to reduce intake at our city shelter. Considering the fact that L.A. is home to over 3 million stray cats,
High Intensity TNR is what we do! Read the most recent scientific research supporting regionally focused spay/neuter. Frontiers in Veterinary Science
It’s important to remember, for centuries feral/unsocialized cats have provided humans with effective, eco-friendly rodent control. Instead of killing them to control their population, our “reward” for their free service is to utilize a simple spay or neuter.
An ear tip is the universal sign of a spayed or neutered cat. Eartips are readily visible from a distance, making it easy for the public & animal control to identify a cat as spayed or neutered. The procedure is performed under sterile conditions while the cat is anesthetized, is relatively painless, involves little to no bleeding and does not significantly alter the cat's appearance. We consider that ear tip a badge of honor!

*we cannot help in other areas due to a limited number of TNR volunteers, limited access to FREE spay/neuter & high demand here in our neighborhood.
TNR HELP FORM
What:
Once you submit the TNR Request Form, we’ll review your request, assess the urgency of the situation, connect you to a volunteer trapper via email who will schedule the TNR based on the spay/neuter resources available & the number of cats currently waiting to be trapped & fixed. There is no such thing as on demand spay/neuter. Please note, our volunteers have full time jobs & donate what free time they have to help fix cats- be kind!
There is never a charge or fee for TNR, this is a free community service provided by volunteers donating their time.
Please be patient. We want to help, but access to spay/neuter is extremely limited due to a national veterinary shortage.
We utilize the spay/neuter and medical services of FixNation.org for all the cats we TNR.
Once a volunteer trapper has confirmed a trapping date, you’ll be asked to withhold food the day of trapping, this is critical as hungry cats are most likely to go into traps. The cats are trapped in the early evening, held overnight by the volunteer & transported by the volunteer to FixNation early the following morning for surgery. Following their surgery, they’re monitored while they recover, fed 2-3 meals and returned back exactly where they were trapped approx. 36 hours after surgery.
We do NOT have a shelter facility.
We do NOT take or pick-up unwanted animals from the public.
We do NOT relocate cats.
We do NOT provide free medical care or food for homeless cats beyond the services above.
* There are no support services in the city of L.A. for sick or injured cats. If you have the ability to secure the animal, please do so & take it to a city shelter where their medical staff will make the most humane choice for the cat.
We’re a neighborhood based team of part time volunteers. We are not an animal pick-up service or business, so please be respectful & kind to our volunteers who are performing a community service for FREE.
FYI:
We NEVER “pull” animals from shelters given the fact that the streets are overflowing with homeless cats & kittens, most of which aren’t fixed & are the greatest contributors to overcrowded shelters.
We’re ONLY able to rescue kittens if we have an open foster home and the financial resources to cover required medical care.
Our volunteer rescue work is directed to the youngest, most at-risk kittens in our operating area IF we have a foster.
We will never ask for a financial “pledge” before we rescue an animal & we rely solely on the community to chip-in what they can to help fund our volunteer efforts.
